"The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. The most you can do is live inside that hope, running down its hallways, touching the walls on both sides" - Barbara Kingsolver
It was the quote above, from my absolute favourite author of all time, that finally propelled me to quit my day job, leaving behind the relative safety of a very boring and unfulfilling corporate career, and risk it all - my income, my family, my safety - to do what I loved; write.
Since starting my freelance writing career I have written in excess of 400 articles, published both in magazine format and online.
I am currently the Features Editor for a South African parenting magazine called Mamas & Papas - and I am proud to be such a big part of a magazine that really breaks the mould. Every month the magazine that sits on shelf is truly an asset to any couple who is planning a family, pregnant mothers, and those who already have young children.
I also founded a company called we.can.talk which teaches parents how to do baby sign language with their babies and toddlers - those with and without special needs. In my opinion there is nothing more loving than communicating in a meaningful way with your baby! Simple as that. I regularly blog over there as well - so pop over to the we.can.talk blog!
I am in the process of co-authoring my first novel, a biography of an inspiring woman, mother, and ANC war veteran. I am so excited about this process, and as with any project I take on - I'm jumping in with both feet. This will hopefully be the first of many stories that I will help to bring to light.
